Tasting

***Registration is required. Entries must be registered by 4:30 pm Monday March 28, 2016 Important: Entries must signed in and dropped off on the 4th floor at the Ballroom Foyer on Saturday April 2 2016 at the Doubletree Hilton 1521 West Pinhook Lafayette, La between 9 am -11:30 am. Judging will start at 12:00 pm. This is a closed door judging. Winners will be announced at the Award ceremony on Sunday April 3, 2016 at 5:00pm

CAKES

Rules:

CAKES MUST BE ON DISPOSABLE BOARD (will not be returned). CAKE NOT OVER 10” IN DIAMETER. CAKES MUST BE IN CAKE BOX. CAKES ARE NOT JUDGED ON DECORATION. See Judges Criteria Below.

YOU MUST INCLUDE TYPED RECIPE. YOUR NAME IS NOT TO BE PLACE ON RECIPE OR CAKE. YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN ENTRY NUMBER AT REGISTRATION TO ALLOW FOR ANONYMITY DURING JUDGING.

CATEGORIES:

CREATIVE CAKE MIX (Doctored cake mix). EXAMPLES: Anything added other than box directions.

Pound Cake (Any pound cake. No Box mix allowed). EXAMPLES: Lemon, Fig, Spice, Buttermilk, etc…

Homemade Cake (Any layered iced cake from scratch. No box mix or pre-made icing or frosting). Cake must not need refrigeration before serving.

PIES MUST BE SWEET NOT SAVORY AND MUST NOT REQUIRE REFRIGERATION BEFORE SERVING. CRUSTS AND FILLINGS MUST BE MADE FROM SCRATCH. NO STORE BROUGHT CRUST, DOUGH OR CANNED FILLING MAY BE USED.
