Competition Rules

Cake Fest Louisiana cake and tasting competition is open to all of the public.

Deadline for registration is: Monday, March 28, 2016.

Registration fee is as follow: $35.00 for SHOW THEME $30.00 All Categories (except Child & Youth and Show Theme) $15.00 Child/Youth $15.00 Tasting Competition

Entry fees are nonrefundable.

Registration fee includes your one day admission.

Competition entries must be solely the work of the entrant, with exception of the Child/Youth Division*

*Child/Youth may receive help with baking from an adult but all decorating must be by the child/youth.

Competition entries (excluding SHOW THEME) must not exceed 24”L X 24”W space.

Electricity will not be available for any competition entry.

Do not use glue or any other items you would not use on real cake to secure your decorations. If using non-edible items, such as toothpicks and wires, make sure they are not inserted directly into the cake.

Do not put any business name, advertisements or photos on your display (except when required for the sculpted category.)

Cake Decorating Competition entries must signed in and dropped off at the follow times/location:

Double Tree Hotel-4th floor at the Ballroom Foyer

Friday April 1, 2016 5:00pm-9:00pm

Saturday April 2, 2016 7:00am-9:00 am

Any competition entries deemed in poor taste will be disqualified and removed from the competition.Disqualification is solely the decision of the judge coordinator and/or show directors.

Tasting Competition entries must be signed in and dropped off at the following time/location:

Double Tree Hotel-4th floor at the Ballroom Foyer

Saturday April 2, 2016 7:00am-11:30 am

Any and all questions from competition entrants and judges, as well as the placement and disqualification of competition entries, will be decided by the lead judge. The lead judge’s decision is final.

Competition entries will have a judges’ score sheet which will display marks awarded for each criteria. Score sheets will be placed next to your entry on Sunday April 3 before the start of the show.

Awards ceremony will take place Sunday April 3, 2016 at 5:30pm.

Winners, or a representative, must be present to receive your award.

All entrants in the child/youth division will be recognized for their participation.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in each division and category.

One Best in Show winner will be awarded from all the 1st place winners from all divisions.

Competition entries must stay in place until Sunday April 3, 2016 by 5:00pm. All competitions entries must be removed by 8:00pm, Sunday April 3, 2016. Any and all competition entries not removed will become property of Cake Fest Louisiana and will be discarded upon discretion.

Cake Fest Louisiana and the Double Tree Hilton will not be held responsible for any damage or theft to competition entries or personal property although all precautions will be taken.

Cake Fest reserves the rights to photograph all entries for promotional purposes.
